Text: John 3:15-21
Theme: Judgment

Text
Judgment is coming
v. 18-19
We tend to think of judgment as something that is 'coming'
However, we see here that it is not that judgment is presented as accomplished
It is not that God has put off judging the world
Rather it is that judgment has happened
And all people are guilty
That they love darkness rather than light
That their deeds are evil
Judgment is not optional
v. 17
Without the coming of Christ, judgment would be the only thing possible
Our loves and deeds have been offensive to the Holy God of the universe
This is the sin that sends to eternal judgment: v. 18: not believing in the Son of God
No other sin condemns you
No other sin cannot be forgiven
Judgment is escapable
v. 16-17
God sent His son that the world might be saved
God gave His son that the world might not perish
God gave His son that the world might have eternal life
Judgment will be terrible
Notice the terms
Judgment:
Saved:
What are you going to do about it?
Will you accept the offer of salvation that is presented to you?
Everyone in the world needs to accept the offer
The blood of Christ is sufficient for all of us
Since the blood of Christ is sufficient for all who believe....
Stop acting like it's not enough for you
Stop acting like there's not enough for anyone else
Share the news....here and beyond
Text: Exodus 4
Theme: Dealing with your weaknesses
Date: November 14 2010 PM
Location: FBC Almyra
Picking up where we were
Moses is on the side of a mountain, listening to God
So far, God has told Moses to go to Egypt and:
Take the people out of Egypt
Tell them that “I am who I am” sent him
Plunder the Egyptians (3:22)
God has also told Moses that:
Pharaoh will not let the people go
The people will go anyway
The people will not go empty handed
Recognize that the Exodus is the showing of God's greatness among the nations
Moses is now telling God he doesn't want to do it
First: what if they don't believe what I say?---miracle of the staff and the hand
People will often doubt when we say we think God has spoken
Show them the power of God
First greatest miracle: not a snake or a hand, but a changed life
Then: the work of God in other lives
Second: I lack the skills to do this! ---the provision of Aaron
There are none of us with all of the skills to carry the Gospel everywhere
So, God provides us with each other to fill out our mix of gifts
Focus on what you can do more than what you cannot
Third: I just don't want to do it.
What has God commanded?
What has He done for us?
Why can we not obey?
Thanks for taking the time to read! Doug Hibbard
